A classic Italian digestif that was created in 1845 by spice trader
Bernardino Branca. Made to a secret formula, spices are sourced from
four continents; chamomile from the Americas; iris root, lime tree and
gentian root from Europe; bitter orange, myrrh
and aloe from Africa and saffron, cinnamon and galangal from Asia. The
herbs and spices are then macerated to extract their flavour. The liquid
is aged for 12 months in oak, to create this popular Italian bitters.
