PRODUCTION DISTRICT: Maremma Toscana, province of Grosseto.
ALTITUDE: Average altitude of 150 metres above sea level.
TYPE OF SOIL: Quartz sandstone of marine origin.
TRAINING SYSTEM: Guyot and spurred cordon.
HARVEST: During September.
WINEMAKING METHOD: Very ripe grapes are fermented in steel at controlled temperature (25–28 °C), and the skilful daily pumpovers ensure the wine has structure and fruit-driven notes. The wine is aged in steel and concrete tanks for several months before bottling.
SENSORY PROFILE: Vibrant ruby red colour and a fruit-forward nose with spice hints and nuances of ripe red berries, while the mouth is firm, warm, plush and lingering.
RECOMMENDED CELLARING: 3 years in bottle, laid down in a dark cellar.
FOOD PAIRING: Appetizer platters of cured meats and mature cheeses, red meat stew and game.
