Producer Spotlight:

Birra Peroni

In 1846 our founder, Francesco Peroni set up his first brewery in Vigevano, a historic town in northern Italy. He called it Birra Peroni. It still bears his name today.

The combination of ideal climate, the ice and plentiful glacial water from the nearby mountains, and the quality of the local ingredients that allowed Francesco to create a truly distinctive, pale, refreshing and zestful beer. In no time, word got around.

In 1864 the second brewery was built, this time in Rome, with Francesco’s son, Giovanni taking over the new branch. In just eight years Peroni shifted its headquarters over to Rome – and by the mid 1930s it became the biggest brewery in the whole of Italy.

About Birra Peroni

Our brand philosophy is in our name, inspired by the ocean liner SS Rex winning the ‘Blue Ribband’ award in 1933. Today, we’re proud to use the Blue Ribbon as a symbol of achieving with passion and flair, in true Italian style.

Peroni Nastro Azzurro was born out of the spirit of Italy during the years of La Dolce Vita. In 1963, Carlo Peroni created a superior, lighter, more refreshing lager that could be exported to the world with style.
