Sardus Pater is a historic cooperative winery located on the island of Sant’Antioco in the south-west of Sardinia, founded in 1949 and beginning wine production in 1955. Rooted in local tradition, the winery brings together around 200 growers cultivating hundreds of hectares of vineyards, many of which are old, low-yielding vines planted in sandy soils that produce high-quality grapes. Sardus Pater is especially known for its focus on the Carignano grape, the key variety behind the renowned Carignano del Sulcis wines, while also producing Vermentino and smaller quantities of other traditional Sardinian varietals. Its name is inspired by Sardus Pater, a mythological figure considered the “father” of the Sardinian people, reflecting the winery’s deep connection to the island’s cultural heritage.
